Comments:

"I had positively no knowledge or experience in HTML ... Mr. Moner is a good teacher. I feel I've gained a lot of knowledge pertaining to HTML. Mr. Moner has a great personality and is a cool teacher!"

"Moner is able to keep the class interesting and fun yet still teach you something. I found his teaching style to be very helpful to this course."

"The quizzes were great learning tools. More code."

"Kind of slow-paced, but I took a course like this in high school ... I did learn about style sheets, though."

"I thought this course was interesting but went way too fast if you didn't already have some background in the subject. It was probably a good pace for web design students but I felt lost a lot ... It would be better if there were more independent in-class activities." [Excerpt] -- Based on this feedback I am giving more in-class worksheets starting in Winter 2009

"Fashion students should never have to take this course. Pointless and difficult." -- I am passing this feedback on to the Fashion and Retail Management Chair

"This class is very accessible to non-web design majors."

"I actually really liked this class. I thought learning code would be boring, but I enjoyed learning how a web site is put together. It was one of the only classes this quarter that I believed I was getting my money's worth."

"I really like Mr. Moner as an instructor. He's down-to-earth but still focused. He displays a technical knowledge that I plan to achieve here at AIP."

"I really like how you strictly teach to web design standards."

Summer 2008 - IMD233 Web Site Development

IDEA Results (5-pt. scale, Raw/Adj.):
Progress on Relevant Objectives: 4.2/3.7
Excellent Teacher: 4.6/4.3
Excellent Course: 4.3/3.7
Summary Evaluation: 4.3/3.9
77% of class responded, "fairly reliable" results

Comments:

"Should have weekly quizzes to keep what we learned in class fresh in our minds."

"I really enjoyed working on the demos for Dreamweaver. I learned more from following a set process than just fumbling around on my own."

"Good job handling such a big class."

"I loved this class!"

"You did a great job ... I can confidently say I have a better handle on [Dreamweaver] than other Adobe programs and I have no prior experience."

"The final project should have checkpoints (Week 5, Week 7, etc.). The book we used is horrible and hard to follow." -- I will most likely modify the text for the next course revision.

"I was excited to take this class and I thought Mr. Moner did a great job considering that the class was way too large ... I think Mr. Moner would be able to give more attention to the students who actually want to learn if the class wasn't so large."

Spring 2008 - FND114 Fundamentals of Media Communications

IDEA Results (5-pt. scale, Raw/Adj.):
Progress on Relevant Objectives: 4.3/4.6
Excellent Teacher: 4.9/5.0
Excellent Course: 4.3/5.0
Summary Evaluation: 4.4/4.9
41% of class responded, "inadequate to assure representativeness"

Comments:

"Having been absent from the academic world for over 30 years I was not sure if learning would be a positive experience. Your obvious love for your work was contagious and I found myself looking forward to your weekly encounters. I have been in many learning environments over the years but have never had quite the positive results I have had here in your class. I am looking forward to taking other courses you will be instructing. Thank you for a very enjoyable and informative class."

"I enjoyed the class and the videos shown were informative and entertaining."

"I enjoyed the class. [It's] actually a class I learned [something] in; [for example], the Orson Welles stuff."

"Course was informative and the teacher was great."

"Lectures were concise and intriguing for the entire class period. Great between lecture, notes, and discussion presented in a way that kept my attention."

"Mr. Moner is a great teacher. His teaching style and sense of humor makes the classroom experience much more enjoyable."

"The class and professor gave a great chance to orally discuss topics that everyone seemed to gather and reflect upon. This class has given me a chance personally to share and express feelings and opinions on all topics."

Winter 2008 - G133 Digital Image Manipulation

IDEA Results (5-pt. scale, Raw/Adj.):
Progress on Relevant Objectives: 4.5/4.1
Excellent Teacher: 4.8/4.5
Excellent Course: 4.5/3.9
Summary Evaluation: 4.6/4.2
92% of class responded, "representative"

Comments:

"Mr. Moner is a great teacher. He really made the class a good experience for me despite that it was a Saturday morning class."

"This course was good but I wish there was more time to get the work done. My job was interfering. The instructor was great, very detailed in his knowledge of Photoshop. That did help me a lot. He did, however, go a little fast in speaking and it was difficult to catch everything on what to do. Other than that, it was good."

"It would be helpful to have step-by-step handouts of what we learned in class. To a beginner following the Photoshop CS3 book was like reading a foreign language. At the end of term, I now understand the language. I thoroughly enjoyed the class from first day to last project. I am amazed at what I can create using Photoshop CS3."
